Grealish ended speculation surrounding his future by signing a new five-year contract in September, resulting in a significant pay rise as well as an increased buy-out clause.
“The owners have made it very clear to me how ambitious they are and how they want to build Aston Villa. There are exciting times ahead and I am very glad to be part of it,” he said after extending terms at the West Midlands club until 2025.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, meanwhile, made no secret of his admiration for the England international as he singled him out for praise before facing Villa on New Year’s Day.
“He’s a player for Aston Villa and England who has only improved,” said Solskjaer.
“I don’t want to say too much about other teams’ players but of course, he’s a player we know we have to look for.”
