Borussia Dortmund pair Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland were at their brilliant best on Wednesday evening during their side’s Champions League victory over Sevilla. The Bundesliga heavyweights scored three important away goals courtesy of midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud and a brace from the ever-impressive Haaland to provide themselves with a massive advantage going into the return leg in three weeks’ time.
Sancho also played a key role, with the 20-year-old at the heart of his side’s attacking play and providing the assist for his Norwegian team-mate’s first goal of the evening.
Manchester United have been linked with both Sancho and Haaland in recent months, with their interest in the former well-documented during the summer months.
Chairman Ed Woodward was said to have launched multiple attempts to capture the England star’s signature, but saw each and every one rebuffed by Dortmund after failing to meet their financial demands.
Haaland has also been tipped to join the Red Devils after it was suggested last month that Dortmund may be forced to sell one of their prized assets in the summer, as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
With both players shining in Champions League action once again on Wednesday, United fans took to Twitter to make their transfer dreams known.
Many supporters urged Woodward to break the bank and sign both Sancho and Haaland in the summer, claiming their arrivals could help fire United back to their former glories.
One fan suggested that United should put aside their frosty relationship with Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola in order to get the deals done.
“Couldn’t give two s**** about the agent, Haaland x Sancho at United is desperately needed,” they claimed.
Another added: “I’ve seen enough, hand over Sancho, Haaland, and [Sevilla defender Jules] Kounde @BlackYellow @SevillaFC_ENG.”
“Need both Sancho and Haaland at my club nowwww,” claimed a third, while a fourth said: “Martial out Haaland and Sancho in next season please Ole.”
A fifth was unsure about which player would be more effective under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, revealing: “Can’t tell if I want Sancho or Haaland more.”
Other fans fantasised about the prospect of Sancho and Haaland linking up with United’s established stars.
One said: “Haaland & Sancho at United with Bruno and Rashford would be a cheat code ngl.”
Another quipped: “I just want to see Sancho and Haaland playing in la theatre of dreams.”
It remains to be seen whether United will eventually go in for either player, but with continued world-class performances it seems a matter of time before they are snapped up by one of Europe’s elite.
Both players have the potential to become world-beaters in the near future, and it seems as if Woodward will continue to face calls to move for their services between now and the summer transfer window.
