Liverpool player ratings: One star flops more than rest in damning 1-0 loss to Saints | Football | Sport

Liverpool (4-3-3)

Alisson 6

No chance with the goal. Couple of poor clearances. But had little to do second half.

Alexander-Arnold 5

Badly caught out for Saints opening goal. Battled on and got forward well but little end product.

Henderson 6

Switched to defence because of Liverpool’s injury crisis. Worked hard and no glaring errors but missed in midfield.

Fabinho 6

Like Henderson, not a natural centre back. But has played there. Better use of the ball. 6

Robertson 6

Got forward so well as usual. Booked. Kept going, constant threat down the left but again no end product.

Oxlade-Chamberlain 6

First start of the season. Looked rusty – found it hard to get into the game.

Thiago 6

First start since October. Booked. Gave the ball away – and too many free kicks. Coulee of good balls but not enough.

Wijnaldum 6

Quiet – never got going. Better second half but Saints pressing crowded him out. Average.

Salah 6

Buzzed about but got too little of the ball. Put one header over but never really got going though tired hard.

Firmino 6

Early shot wide. Did not do enough first half. Good skills but little impact. Used skills but Saints stubborn.

Mane 7

Good skills. Put one good chance over. Never stopped working, shot deflated wide. Best of Liverpool forwards.

SUBS

Shaqiri 6 (for Oxlade-Chamberlain, 57)

Milner 6 (for Alexander-Arnold, 77)
