Matteo Kovacic – 6
Unable to unpick the Fulham defence, and didn’t have too much of a role in defending, either. Still, he held his position well and pushed forward when able to.
Mason Mount – 8
Every time he received the ball he looked to drive forward and make a key pass. Deserved his goal and took it well, blasting past Areola on the volley.
Jorginho – 6
Looked solid defensively, but didn’t offer enough going forward. There was a notable shift in Chelsea’s play when he was replaced by Tammy Abraham.
Hakim Ziyech – 7
Looked good going forward, but was unable to crack the resilient Fulham defence.
Christian Pulisic – 8
Looked like Chelsea’s best player throughout. Constantly driving at the Fulham defence and causing problems, even drifting from wing to wing in the hopes of finding an opening. Ultimately, though, Fulham were superb defensively and didn’t give him an inch.
Olivier Giroud – 6
Saved by the offside flag after a dire miss after the hour mark. A few times Chelsea played misguided long through balls through to him, seemingly forgetting he didn’t have the pace of Timo Werner.
