Tottenham are reportedly prepared to go ‘all out’ to sign Argentine prospect Ezequiel Fernandez from Boca Juniors. Reports in Argentina claim that Spurs have already made enquiries about the midfielder to get ahead of the competition before the summer transfer window.

Fernandez is considered to be the next star from Boca’s production line. The 21-year-old has made 48 appearances for the club since making his debut in 2021.

He has been linked with several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, but Spurs are desperate to beat their top-flight rivals to his signature. The capture of Fernandez would fit Spurs’ policy of snapping up the world’s best young talent.

According to Boca Noticias, Spurs are willing to go ‘all out’ to sign the Argentina U23 international. However, they are yet to make a formal approach for the player.

Boca reportedly have no interest in selling Fernandez for now. That is despite the club usually being open to losing their best young players to clubs in Europe, who are prepared to pay big fees.

Teenage left-back Valentin Barco was allowed to join Brighton in a £10m January deal. Midfielder Alan Varela joined Porto for £8m last summer.

Fernandez is highly thought of among his colleagues. Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister believes he is the player most similar to his own playing style.

Speaking while still a Brighton player in March 2023, Mac Allister said: “If you ask me a little more about my style, there’s one player I like a lot and that’s Equi Fernandez. He’s a player who has all the conditions to get to Europe one day and hopefully it can be given to him.

“He’s a player I like a lot, he understands the game a lot. He’s always ready to receive the ball, he plays with both feet, he can play as a five, as a midfielder.
