Jurgen Klopp has revealed Diogo Jota is facing ‘months’ on the sidelines with Liverpool also facing injury worries over four more key players. Striker Jota was stretchered off during the 4-1 win over Brentford on Saturday, leaving fans of the Reds fearing the worst ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final with Chelsea.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of a Premier League clash with Brentford on Wednesday, Klopp said: “With Diogo it will take months (not weeks). I couldn’t say a timeframe even if I wanted to. That is just how it is. When you don’t have these players it makes no sense (to guess).”

The Portuguese star has been pivotal to Liverpool this season, scoring 14 times in all competitions. And as the team’s schedule continues to intensify with Liverpool fighting for trophies on four fronts, Klopp also spoke about four other potential long-term absentees.

Pressed on the overall injuoutlook, he replied: “Not great, would like to say no issues but we have some. Not available Alisson, muscle injury, not sure how long. Curtis (Jones), bone or ligament issue, ruled out.”

The German manager also confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dominik Szoboszlai were yet to return to training. And again, he conceded it was too early to earmark a potential return date.

“We will deal with it day by day,” he added. “Muscle issues, we will see. Trent, Szoboszlai are on their way back but not in team training yet, so not available. That is the situation. What I said after the game though, if we have 11 we will go for it and that is the idea.”
