The weekend’s Premier League fixtures get underway this lunchtime when Liverpool travel to Brentford, the first of an interesting match week which concludes on Wednesday. There are several selection headaches for FPL players picking their teams before the 11am deadline. Express Sport provides the latest with a list of players who might not be available for Matchweek 25.

Pedro Porro

Tottenham defender Pedro Porro, who is in 30.2% of all FPL teams, is amongst the absentees when his side face Wolves later today. The 24-year-old has made 23 appearances this season and picked up 87 FPL points in the process.

However, the defender – who has amassed over 2,000 minutes of playing time this season – is set to miss today’s gain with a thigh strain. Ange Postecoglou confirmed the injury blow for his side. He said: “Pedro [Porro] picked up a strain in training. Again, probably a couple of weeks for him. With a game break hopefully he doesn’t miss too many.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is selected in 17.6% of all FPL teams and is set to miss their clash against Brentford at lunchtime. The 25-year-old is out with a knee injury which has been a recurring problem for the defender this season.

Boss Jurgen Klopp gave an injury update on the defender who is set to miss the League Cup final against Chelsea next Sunday and two league games beforehand, along with Dominik Szoboszlai.

“It’s a final, yes, but there are two games they cannot play,” said Klopp. “With Dom it will be around that time (the final), we will see exactly how it works. With Trent maybe a week or two longer so it’s not great.”

Alexander Isak

Newcastle forward Alexander Isak is featured in 11.5% of all FPL teams, but is unlikely to play against Bournemouth this afternoon. Isak has missed Newcastle’s last two Premier League fixtures after suffering a groin issue against Aston Villa last month.
Eddie Howe provided a new update on the forward. He said: “[Alexander Isak] not for the weekend, but he’s very close. He’s looking good. Mentally he feels free. Let’s wait and see.”

Destiny Udogie

Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie is also on Postecoglou injury list and is selected by 11% of all FPL players. The Spurs’ boss hopes that the defender will return after this gameweek.

He said: “Destiny [Udogie] picked up a little bit of a knock last week and not available for tomorrow. I don’t think it’s anything too serious so with no game next weekend he should be back.”

Joao Pedro

Brighton forward Joao Pedro has picked up 83 game points and is selected by 8.4% of FPL players. The striker, who has scored 19 times in all competitions this season, has suffered a hamstring injury and is unlikely to feature as Brighton take on Sheffield United on Sunday.

His return date is unknown.
