Mesut Ozil sparks Twitter frenzy as Arsenal star closes in on Fenerbahce move | Football | Sport

Ozil joined Arsenal for £42.4 million in 2013 to much fanfare, having scored 27 goals and creating 80 assists in 159 appearances for Real Madrid during his three years at the club.

The 32-year-old has struggled to reach the levels expected though, only winning three FA Cups during his time at the club, having missed out on the squad entirely when they lifted the trophy last summer.

It looked as though Ozil’s Arsenal career was back on track earlier during the 2019/20 season as he started consistently between November and February but his appearance against West Ham on March 7 was to be his last time in a Gunners squad.

Assuming the move happens and he does not play another game for the club, Ozil will leave having scored 44 goals and made 77 assists in 254 appearances in all competitions.
