Arsenal news: Mesut Ozil names best XI since he’s been at club in dig at Arteta and Wenger | Football | Sport

Mesut Ozil has named what he views as the best Arsenal XI since he joined the club. Ozil looks set to leave Arsenal this month, with a move to Fenerbahce reportedly on the horizon. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta wasn’t able to give much of an update on the 32-year-old’s situation at his press conference on Monday morning.

However, he did confirm that he would not be paying attention to Ozil’s Twitter Q&A situation later in the day.

“I’m sorry but I don’t use Twitter. I don’t follow Twitter,” Arteta said.

That didn’t stop questions flooding in though, with one of them being: “Who is your top Arsenal XI in the era you played for the club?”

And there were one or two surprise inclusions to say the least.

David Ospina

Ospina is named in goal ahead of the likes of Wojciech Szczesny, Petr Cech and current No 1 Bernd Leno.

The Colombian made 56 appearances for the Gunners between 2014 and 2019.

Bacary Sagna

Sagna only played with Ozil for one season but he gets in at right-back.

Hector Bellerin is the only other candidate who should be considered.

Arsenal wages: Ozil tops list as Aubameyang, Pepe and Partey salaries are revealed

Aaron Ramsey

Two-time FA Cup hero Ramsey partners Cazorla in an attacking midfield.

It still feels wrong that he was allowed to leave the club for nothing.

Serge Gnabry

Gnabry’s inclusion is a swipe at former Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

The German shouldn’t have been allowed to leave the club and Ozil knows it.

Mesut Ozil

It wouldn’t be Ozil’s team if he wasn’t in it himself.

To be fair, there aren’t many No 10s who would get in ahead of him.

Alexis Sanchez

Sanchez is arguably the best player Arsenal have had since they moved to the Emirates.

On their day, he and Ozil were majestic to watch.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Imagine Ozil, Sanchez and Aubameyang in the same team. That would have been something to behold.
