Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was full of praise for Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial after the pair played a starring role in Friday night’s win over Aston Villa. United went joint top of the Premier League after beating Villa 2-1 at Old Trafford.
United are now level on points and games played with Liverpool after their win over Villa on Friday.
Solskjaer’s side are enjoying a terrific spell of form at the moment, having gone ten league games unbeaten.
They received a bit of luck against Villa, with Dean Smith lambasting Michael Oliver for his decision to award United a penalty in the second half after Pogba was tripped inside the area.
Bruno Fernandes tucked away the resulting spot kick to give United the lead after Bertrand Traore cancelled out Martial’s opener.
Speaking after the game, Solskjaer heaped praise on Pogba for his performance in the middle of the park.
The Frenchman had a role in both goals, having chipped the ball over John McGinn’s head in the build-up before playing a neat pass to Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who set up Martial’s opener.
And Solskjaer believes there’s even more to come from the 27-year-old, who has been linked with a move away in the summer.
He said: “He’s getting better and better, fitter and fitter. I think he played well today.
