Chelsea have decided they will make an opening bid in the region of £77million in the summer transfer window in a bid to sign the Norwegian. Haaland is viewed as one of the most exciting players in the world, and will have a release clause in his contract from next year onwards.
Chelsea have apparently made Haaland their top transfer target ahead of the summer.
The Blues have been tipped to go all-out for the Norwegian striker, with Thomas Tuchel apparently set to move for a new centre-forward.
Haaland is viewed as one of the best young players in the world, having shot to fame in the last two years.
The Norwegian is on fire again this season, having scored 25 goals in 24 games across all competitions.
He has a release clause in his contract which will be active from 2022 onwards, reports suggest.
He will apparently be available for just £65million when the release clause is active, a relative bargain considering his potential.
Haaland is worth £99m according to Transfermarkt, and it seems there will be a host of clubs lining up for his services next year.
For that reason, Chelsea want to get ahead of the queue and will apparently make a bid to sign him this summer.
WinSports claims Chelsea will bid £78m in a bid to get him to sign in the upcoming window.
The Blues aren’t the only team interested, however, as Real Madrid have also been tipped to make a bid.
Los Blancos apparently want a new signing after opting against making any permanent acquisitions last summer.
The Borussia Dortmund player has always been quiet on his future, but gave a brief hint over this plans.
When asked about the number of teams interested in his services, Haaland replied: “It’s always nice when people want you.”
Haaland is under contract until 2024, meaning Dortmund have no need to sell him any time soon.
And according to reports in Germany, the Bundesliga side would prefer to sell Jadon Sancho this summer than let Haaland go.
However, they are apparently concerned that Haaland will demand a move if they don’t qualify for next season’s Champions League.
