‘Take my money!’ – Man City fans react to ‘leaked’ 2022/23 kit
It’s that time of year when rumours start circulating about what Manchester City’s kits will look like next season, but it looks like fans may already have the answer for one of them.
As reported by Manchester Confidential, Puma look to have brought back a City classic for the 2022/23 away kit. Models were spotted outside Manchester’s Central Library on Tuesday posing in a modern take on the classic red and black striped design.
Red and black stripes became a part of City heritage when the Blues wore a changed strip during their 1969 FA Cup final triumph, and variations of the strip have made a few appearances over the years, most recently in 2011/12.
This version has a modern twist, with diagonal stripes complimented by an all-yellow club badge and Etihad Airways sponsor.
City fans have long called for a return of the beloved red and black stripes, but is everyone as keen on the modern take?
@bluwes: Strong rumours for months that it would be diagonal stripes. I quite like it
@stb01986: Take my ******* money
@MaraudersJFC: Like it. Still gonna complain that it’s just this season’s Palace template though.
@JamesWinterMCFC: would prefer it with a collar and horizontal stripes, but not badddddddd
@bentrnor: if we made the collar normal and made the yellow a gold this would be a 10/10 kit
@Forsyth11: Thought it would be like the 11/12 away kit not diagonal
@Griffin3Robert: Not bad, but what do Puma have against collars?
