Pep Guardiola sends message to Erik Ten Hag

Pep Guardiola says Manchester United have appointed a top-class manager in Erik Ten Hag.

Ten Hag was confirmed as United’s new manager from next season this week, where one of his tasks will be to close the gap between them and Manchester City – with the Blues confirmed to finish above United for a ninth straight season.

Since Guardiola has been at City, United have changed manager four times now, and the Blues boss has reflected on Ten Hag’s arrival in Manchester in the summer, having worked together at Bayern Munich previously.

When Guardiola was manager at Bayern, Ten Hag was coaching in the academy before moving to Ajax and impressing with his attractive style, use of young players and progress in Europe.

Vincent Kompany explains what Pep Guardiola will tell players about title race

Former City skipper Vincent Kompany was in the news this week as he and ex-teammate Sergio Aguero were inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame.

Kompany’s inclusion sees formal recognition of his contributions to the Manchester club after joining City in 2008. During his 11-year stay, the former defender was part of the squad that won City’s first trophy in 33 years, the 2011 FA Cup.

He also led City to their first-ever Premier League title the following year after being made club captain. These achievements were followed by three further Premier League wins in 2014, 2018 and 2019, alongside four League Cups, two FA Community Shields and another FA Cup.

In 2018-19, Kompany’s final season, City became the first team in England to win a domestic treble, consisting of the Premier League, League Cup and FA Cup. The Belgian remains the only player in English footballing history to captain a team to this unprecedented feat.
