Jack Grealish sent a brilliant Twitter message after Manchester City defeated Leeds United 4-0 to move back to the top of the Premier League.

Liverpool’s 1-0 victory against Newcastle United in the early kick off had moved the Reds to the top of the table to heap pressure on Pep Guardiola’s side ahead of the teatime match. However, the Blues responded magnificently to thump the Whites at Elland Road.

Rodri, Nathan Ake, Gabriel Jesus and Fernandinho were all on the scoresheet as City sent a clear message to Jurgen Klopp’s men. One player who took particular pleasure in the victory was Grealish.

During the game, the former Aston Villa man was halted from taking a corner immediately as Leeds supporters hurled paper towards the England international. Following the fixture, Grealish tweeted: “Offft what a win from the box of toys.

“Always nice to win at Elland Road, on to a big game Wednesday.” When Grealish was then reminded about the paper throwing incident by a City fan, the 26-year-old could not help but joke about it.

He responded: “Few paper cuts on my face,” accompanied with three laughing faces. City’s priority switches back to the Champions League on Wednesday night when they travel to Real Madrid for the second leg of their semi-final.
