Man Utd could pull off dream Kylian Mbappe transfer thanks to six players | Football | Sport

Manchester United may have a chance to pull off the signing of Kylian Mbappe this summer if he does not reach an agreement with Real Madrid in the coming months. United could have the chance to pounce if they offload six players when the transfer window opens at the end of the season. The France international is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain in July and Los Blancos are desperately attempting to find an agreement with the forward as soon as possible.

United are expected to shake up their ranks significantly at the end of the season, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe keen to make his mark as soon as possible at Old Trafford. The INEOS owner has now acquired a 25 per cent stake in the Red Devils and set about restructuring the footballing side of the club.

Ratcliffe has questioned United’s transfer business over the past few years and challenged why players have overstayed their welcome at the Theatre of Dreams. Thus, a mass clear-out is firmly on the cards this summer.

Although the intention of the fire sale is to raise transfer funds for acquisitions, it could also allow United to enter the race for Mbappe. United have several fringe stars on significant wages who could depart and free up the finances required to table an offer which would see the 25-year-old earn a similar wage to his current PSG contract.

Mbappe is currently earning approximately £1.1million-per-week at the Parc des Princes, making him one of the highest-paid players in world football. Real Madrid are keen for the ex-Monaco star to accept a reduced package at the Santiago Bernabeu, and United could be tempted to offer a similar deal if they act promptly.

Casemiro is among the stars expected to leave United this summer, relieving the Red Devils of his £350,000-per-week wages. Similarly, big earner Raphael Varane (£340,000-per-week) has been tipped to leave the club in favour of a move to Saudi Arabia.

Those departures alone would go a long way towards funding a move for Mbappe, and if Anthony Martial and Jonny Evans do not see their contracts renewed then that would see a further £250,000 and £60,000-per-week become available.

Those four departures would enable United to offer Mbappe a deal worth £1m-a-week, and the potential departure of Harry Maguire, who takes home approximately £190,000 a week, could be used to contribute towards offering the 2018 World Cup winner a signing-on bonus of sorts.

Mason Greenwood’s situation is also worth considering given that the England international is likely to have played his last game for United and concrete interest is anticipated in the summer.

The Red Devils’ academy graduate earns £75,000 per week and is likely to head abroad permanently, may that be to Getafe or elsewhere, which could raise further funds in the form of both a transfer fee and also taking his salary off the books.
