Man Utd and Chelsea are both on the lookout for defensive reinforcements, and they have already received some welcome words from Arsenal icon Thierry Henry over a reported target. The two Premier League giants are looking to close the big gap with Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal and will be in the market to strengthen their squads.

And both Utd and Chelsea have recently been linked with a move for Lille centre back Leny Yoro. It comes amid expected departures this summer, with the likes of Raphael Varane and Thiago Silva facing uncertain futures in England.

It has since been reported by HITC that the two Premier League outfits are scouting Yoro and and had chiefs present at Lille’s home clash against Le Havre on Saturday watching the talented young centre-back.

The 18-year-old started from the off as a right centre-back in Lille’s comfortable 3-0 victory over Le Havre, with Jonathan David scoring a hat-trick for the hosts in the Ligue 1 contest.

Yoro has risen through Lille’s youth ranks and has already earned plenty of rave reviews, with one of those coming in the form of Arsenal and France legend Henry. The teenager has previously been linked with the likes of PSG, Real Madrid and Atletico and clearly there is plenty of excitement about what is to come.

And in November last year, Henry hailed his performances in a Lille shirt. “What he is doing is extraordinary,” Henry said as quoted by Le10Sport. “Another young player who is having good matches. Warren Zaire-Emery attracts a little more attention by being at PSG, playing in the Champions League, he has just joined the A. But it’s true that Leny is doing a huge job at the moment.”

Yoro has featured 21 times for Lille so far this season in Ligue 1, helping them to fourth-place following 22 matches as they chase Champions League football. He will be desperate to guide his side to Europe’s elite competition, and if he is to do so, he’ll only attract more suitors.

The race is set to heat up for Yoro before the summer transfer window opens, and both Utd and Chelsea could look to make early moves for the defender after their recent scouting trip as they look to get a headstart over any potential rivals.
