are reportedly prepared to offload Jakub Kiwior at the end of the season as sets his sights on Ajax youngster Jorrel Hato. Kiwior had plenty of suitors in January but was denied a move away from the Emirates Stadium as the Gunners gear up for a taxing title run-in.

Kiwior is more than a year into his north London stint, but the 23-year-old is yet to establish himself in Arteta’s starting XI. William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes have proven difficult to displace at centre-back, while £50million man Ben White is able to shift across if either of the first-choice duo get injured.

As a result, Kiwior has started only five of Arsenal’s 24 Premier League games this season, clocking up an underwhelming total of 439 minutes. Having shown minimal signs of being able to work his way in from the fringes, the Polish international is now understood to be on the chopping block.

According to HITC, the Gunners will not stand in his way if a suitable bid is made during the summer, a year and a half after his £20m arrival from Spezia.

Cutting his losses and leaving the Emirates could be a tricky decision for Kiwior, who was bowled over by Arteta when he first learned of Arsenal’s interest, according to his agent. “Just before New Year, he had a phone conversation with Mikel Arteta discussing many details… he was enchanted,” he told Polish outlet Meczyki.

Kiwior spoke out last year about his lack of game time under Arteta, telling Sky Sports: “I wanted to play minutes as soon as possible but I was told that I needed to be calm, that I needed time to settle in.

Hato, who can play in central defence or at left-back, is a first-team regular and a senior Netherlands international. The 2006-born prodigy has already worn the captain’s armband at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

The summer may be an opportune time for Arsenal to strike, with Ajax meandering towards the final stages of a torrid season. Sitting fifth in the Eredivisie, the Dutch outfit are a massive 24 points behind runaway leaders PSV Eindhoven.
